YHA Oamaru Backpackers
It’s May the 5th, were on our way out of Oamaru where we spent two nights at the YHA Oamaru Backpackers. We stayed here with Sandy and her dog Shadow. They had a cat too. Overall we were very pleased with our Oamaru accommodation.
We flipped a coin in Dunedin deciding whether we’d head North to Oamaru and Mount Cook or back South to the Catlands which was completely rained out the two days we spent there. We’re happy with our decision.
Oamaru is the largest town in North Otago, in the South Island of New Zealand. It’s funky little town, with lots of film crews around filming the Victorian streets, there’s a penguin colony with a bit of a circus going on. It was $28 dollars–we’re glad we did it but wouldn’t do it again. There was a big boisterous group taking lots of pictures and standing up which was annoying.
I really enjoyed the ___ museum. It was $10 to get in and was a really cool experience. (maybe talk more about this)
We stayed here because it was the cheapest, $29 for a bunk, you get a towel. The beds are a bit rickety but its super clean and super cheap.
The first night we were there, there was only five of us so we enjoyed each others company and enjoyed a DVD room and a fire.
Our second night some drunk Kiwis showed up, some Germans, a Chinese family, so it was a bit crowded last night.
Overall its really cozy and we would stay here again next time, definitely highly recommended for your Oamaru accommodation.
