The best thing about this place? The beach.

We even paced it out, about 200 steps away, but who’s counting?

We know it’s August, but we don’t know specifics cause we’re on holiday, we’re at the Surf & Stay in Whangamata.

I thought my rainy adventure was over, until I stumbled upon Whangamata where I found
beautiful weather and pretty cool people. (I even got a free sweatshirt and a donut too!)

I ran into this guy (name?) who has been cycling around the island, and conquered 7000 ks
so far, being sponsored by Microsoft.

So I don’t know what’s harder, cycling 7000 ks around New Zealand or having to use
Microsoft products.

We made it to the beach where I had a surf lesson, went kayaking, saw a seal. We explored
the island just off the coast that was the first settled area in Whangamata.

Anyway, our Whangamata accommodation is called the Surf & Stay, but I think it should be
called the Stay & Surf!

The real draw of this place is the owner, Kat. She’s full of energy, always laughing, and always encouraging you to do cool things.

This place is $33 a night which is pretty cheap for Whangamata accommodation.

They even provide a free breakfast, which most do, except here they have bacon
and eggs cooked every morning on the bbq.

(It gets very windy/too hard to hear. Talking about sweatshirt)
Whangamata is amazing, the estuaries, the sunsets, the walks, I’d definitely recommend it.
